John William Cummings is the son of James Harvey Cummings and Mary A. Lanfear. He was born 11 Feb 1858 in Galt, Sacramento, California. He died 27 Mar 1928 at age 70 in Woodland, Yolo, California and is buried in Alturas, Modoc, California.

About 1883/1884, he married Winnie Ann Ivory in Modoc County, California.  She was born 10 Apr 1864 in Oregon. Winnie is the daughter of Peter Ivory and Mary Kate (unknown). She died 6 May 1922  at age 58 in Alturas, Modoc, California and was buried there on 8 May.

He was born 13 Nov 1888 in California. He died 13 Oct 1948 -- just one month shy of his 60th birthday in Modoc County, California. Mary died 4 Aug 1980 at age 90 or 91 in Alameda County, California. They have one child.
5. John Oliver Cummings was born 16 Aug 1892/1893 in Modoc County, California. On 22 Feb 1921, he married Elizabeth Irene Williams in Alturas, Modoc, California. Irene, as she was known, is the daughter of Mr. Williams and Miss Bayley. She was born 11 Mar 1895 in California. She died 5 March 1986 at age 91 in Alturas, Modoc, California. John died 23 Oct 1973 at age 80 or 81 in Oakland, Alameda, California.
6. ? Cummings was born sometime before 1900 in Modoc County, California and died there sometime before 1900.

Notes

The 1900 Census (Alturas, Modoc, CA. p. 11) says that Winnie had 6 children, 5 still living in 1900. Child number six is otherwise unknown.
