Frank Lawrence Ward (Sr.) is the son of Nettie Elizabeth Cassingham and John Guinn Ward. He was born 1 Jun 1895 in Keytesville, Chariton, Missouri. He died 25 Aug 1960 at age 65 in Elgin, Kane, Illinois and was buried in the WWI military section of Bluff City Mortuary, Elgin, Kane, Illinois on 29 Aug 1960.

On 3 Mar 1920, he married Irene Kohl in Chicago, Cook, Illinois .
