John Duane Edwards (Sr.) is the son of Harvey Leonard Edwards (Sr.) and Nellie Maud Bell. He was born 10 May 1905 in Penokee, Graham, Kansas. He died on the Fourth of July 1991 at age 86 in Montery County, California.

On 11 Narch 1934, he married Violet Lee Henderson in Conroe, Texas. She is the daughter of Ira Melton Henderson and Nora Lee Whitten. She was born 13 September 1908 in Dickenson, Galveston, Texas. She died 31 January 1998 at age 89 in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, California.
