
Citizenship Oath of Thomas Cassingham. Jr. (17 July 1826)

"The State of Ohio, Muskingum County, Court of Common Pleas, July Term 1826.
"Thomas Cassingham, Jr. comes into court
and represents that he was born in the county of Kent in the kingdom of
England -- that he emigrated from thence and landed at the port of Baltimore, in the
United States of America, sometime in the month of October in the year 1818; that he is
about the age of 24 years; that he owes allegiance to George the Fourth King of the united
kingdoms of England, Scotland and Ireland; that he resides in said county of Muskingum,
where it is his intention hereafter to reside; that it is bona fide his intention to
become a citizen of the United States and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity
to every foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereign whatever and particularly all
allegiance & fidelity to said George the 4th King as aforesaid of whom he is a
subject.
"Sworn to and subscribed before me this 17th day of July 1826." (signed by
