George Albert Sutton Obituary

George A. Sutton, Sr., 78, died Sunday morning, Feb. 20, 2000, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born Jan. 25, 1922 in Morris, he was a son of Henry and Edna (Finch) Sutton.

Educated in the Mazon schools, he served in the U.S. Army during Word War II and received an honorable discharge on Dec. 24, 1945.

On Aug. 17, 1946, he married Charline Hill in Gardner. During their married life, the couple lived in Morris, Kinsman and Verona.

Mr. Sutton farmed most of his life around Verona and was a member of the Verona United Methodist Church. His two greatest joys in life were his family and his farming.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Elvin and Glenn Sutton; and his son, Dr. Dale Sutton in 1990.

Surviving him are his wife of 53 years; four children, Judith Sutton of Joliet, Donna (Rod) Tate of Macomb, George (Lucille) Sutton, Jr. of Verona and Patti (Brian) Little of Marion, Iowa.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jayson Baudino of Macomb, Jared (Robin) Baudino of Springfield, Michael and Lauren Little of Marion, Iowa and Leslie Sutton of Verona; one brother, Donald (Wilma) Sutton of Ogden, Iowa; two sisters, Marjorie (Richard) Judy of Streator and Lois (Charles) Adkins of Mazon, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Fruland Funeral Home in Morris at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev Jennie Reardon and Deacon Michael Cook officiating. Burial will be in Mazon cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers include Greg Schaefer, John K. Knibbs, Bob Knibbs, Joe Johnson, Mark Hill and Ken Adkins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mazon-Verona-Kinsman Ambulance Service or to the Verona Methodist Church.
