WOODYARD Donald H., born in Guthrie, Ok. Sept. 8, 1909. Graduated from Stillwater High School, attended Oklahoma A&M College (now Okla. State), graduated from University of Maryland, was a member of Kappa Sigma at OSU. Received a commission in the ROTC, Oklahoma State College, in 1932. Entered active duty in the Army in 1940, served in Europe in WWII. He served in the Philippines from 1949-52, and had various assignments at the Pentagon. He later served in Korea in 1958, assigned to the Army General Staff until his retirement in 1962. Upon retirement, he received the Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. Donald served as volunteer editor of Westminster Presbyterian Church's newspaper for 9 years, and was a Deacon in the church. He was a nationally known calligrapher both professionally and to his friends. As a volunteer for the Oklahoma City Literacy Council from its inception, he received a special award from the governor in 1990. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and the North Oklahoma City Rotary Club. Donald was married for more than 50 years to his loving wife, Caralu, his eighth grade sweetheart. Survivors are his wife, Caralu; stepson, Cuilly Burdett, LaJolla, Ca; brother-in-law, Ben L. Burdick, OKC; brother, Willard A. Woodyard, El Paso, Tx. Memorials may be made to Oklahoma City Literacy Council. Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church Chapel.
