Appendicitis is Fatal to R. Wills

Richard Wills, age 57 years, a prominent miner died Friday afternoon at the Keenan Hospital in this city after having been ill a short time with appendicitis.

Last Sunday, he was suddenly taken ill with the trouble and was immediately brought to the city where an operation was at once performed.

Mr. Wills was born in Zanesville, but for the past number of years, he has been living at Davis Hollow where he has been employed in the mines.

Mr. Wills leaves a widow and eight children: They are Mrs. Ward Senter, Mrs. M.E. Holdsworth, Douglas, Howard, Carl and Orville Wills of Conesville and Miss Francis Wills who lives at home.

Two sisters and six brothers survive. Mr. Wills first wife died six years ago when she was horribly burned by an exploding lamp which she was carrying.

The body was removed to the home last night by Clyde Wheeler's ambulance. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

[Note: This obituary has several significant mistakes. It states that Mr. Wills leaves eight children, but then only names seven (there are, in fact, only seven). Furthermore, there is no Francis Wills -- the youngest child is a son, Corbett Wills.]
