CASSINGHAMS in America

Elizabeth A. Cassingham was born 31 Oct 1818 in Maryland (very shortly after the arrival of her family to America). She is the daughter of Thomas Cassingham (Sr.) and Phoebe Ford and the first Cassingham to be born on American soil. She died 16 Oct 1891 - just shy of her 73rd birthday - in Grant County, Wisconsin.

On 24 May 1840, she married Dutton Linton in Coshocton County, Ohio. He was born 19 Dec 1816 in Ohio and died 29 Sep 1871 at the age of 54 in Little Grant, Grant, Wisconsin. He is buried in Casler Cemetery, Mt. Hope, Grant, Wisconsin.

Notes

Elizabeth was the first Cassingham to be born in the U.S.   According to her father's citizenship oath, the family arrived at Baltimore on October 26, 1818. Elizabeth was born just five days later. Phoebe must have been very uncomfortable on that boat ride from England, being so pregnant at the time.
